The US Episcopal Church gave its clergy the go-ahead on yesterday to bless some same-sex unions, such as civil partnerships in states that legally recognize them, setting the stage for further conflict with the wider Anglican world.
Being an agnostic but siding on most issues with the Christians I wonder where the Christian religion is headed? Will mating with the beast be next, Is nothing sacred? Why even have the Ten Commandments?
Heck, just make up some crap or ask a liberal what is evil. If Christian denominations continue to lower their standards, what is the Christian Religion then, but a hollow shell of what it once was to the people of the world.
Some would say and I think liberals would agree that the Christian religion is evolving to a higher plane and they point out the teachings of Jesus as a reformer to justify this ideology. I see the situation as more in the realm of the Christian religion becoming worthless as a foundation for our American society. The human need to believe in something other than man, is strong and will not go away. Another religion with laws, rules, and a clear conception of right and wrong may well replace Christianity as we know it.

Jesus taught us to love one another, to forgive those who do us wrong and to care for the poor, the sick and the imprisoned.
Where right wingers get the idea that the Christian faith would support the persecution and condemnation of homosexuals is a mystery to me. Right wing "Christians" have twisted and perverted Jesus' message to fit their own selfish, hate-filled political agenda.

Mike, I suppose we should have forgiven the Japs for bombing our bases in Hawaii or the 19 Muslims who killed 2,000 people in New York? I can see where it would be a mystery to you concerning homos.

Most people forgave the "Japs" a long time ago, Jimmy. As for the "19 Muslims who killed 2,000" they all died along with their victims. Then George W. Bush let Osama Bin Laden slip through our fingers because he was too focused on taking advantage of the 9/11 attacks to launch his totally unrelated war against Iraq.
Being a true Christian isn't easy. Most people fall far short of the ideals that Christ set. But we should still strive to follow that path. Jesus did not arm his followers with weapons and most of them were killed while spreading their message. But the message spread anyway, proving that the word is more powerful than the sword.
